Q & A with Katie
What is your favorite thing about event planning?
I love the diversity. I go to a lot of interesting places, meet great people and be a part of some truly special moments. I also love seeing all the hard work come together and guests enjoying themselves.
Who is your favorite comedian?
I love John Mulaney. He’s the male, slightly older and way funnier version of me. We are both one of four kids, two boys, two girls, both parents are lawyers, both dads are named Charles, both raised Catholic, both Georgetown grads. I relate to so many of his jokes.
What would be on the gag reel of your life?
I once had a man’s teeth fly at me on a roller coaster. An entire top set of dentures at 72mph. I’m lucky they didn’t hit me. I could have a seriously gross scar!
With over thirteen years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry, Katie has perfected the art of event planning from concept to completion, executing the tiniest details while also realizing the big picture. Armed with her expertise, Katie moved to Austin in 2016 and founded LennsFest Events, LLC in order to help her clients host spectacular events that successfully achieve their purpose and exceed expectations.
Katie has strategically planned and coordinated events ranging from weddings and hospitality receptions to high profile parties and the world's largest pro-am. Organizing multi-day events in high stress environments has further enhanced Katie's efficiency, adaptability and capacity for coming up with creative solutions.
Having carried out projects for several major companies, Katie understands the importance of creating valued activation programs and developing and nurturing strong relationships. She will always focus on what is important to her clients and dedicate her efforts to providing high quality events.
Katie’s passion for traveling enables her to draw from a wide range of experiences and a diverse professional network. Her skill, enthusiasm and determination can be seen in the details of her events, and she attributes her to her “love of the game”.
Katie’s background includes work with the Washington Nationals, ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, Disson Sports & Entertainment and the Legg Mason Tennis Classic (now the Citi Open). She graduated with honors from Georgetown University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Management and has a Masters degree from Georgetown University in Sports Industry Management. She also spent a semester abroad at the University of Sydney.
Katie is constantly working to enhance her expertise and stay on top of the industry's latest technology and trends. When she is not working, Katie likes to visit new places, hang out with her husband and baby and dress up for any specially themed occasion. She runs to keep in shape but in all honesty, she hasn't yet hit the point where it gets fun. Lastly, if you are a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers or Pirates, Georgetown Hoyas or Liverpool FC you will be fast friends!
